Format a first EPUB and review your print requirements

An ebook and a print interior have different output requirements. Begin with a clean manuscript and test an export before committing to a final book design.

Before you begin

Install FolioSmith on Windows 10 or 11. Keep a separate manuscript backup. The application interface is in English; follow the current product guide for supported imports.

Match the product to the task

Work through the steps

  1. Start your first book and import the manuscript using a supported format. Inspect the chapter structure and repair headings or breaks that did not import as intended.
  2. Edit the chapter order and review typography with representative pages. Include long headings, paragraphs and any special characters in your sample.
  3. Export an EPUB from Free and open it in an ebook reader. Check the table of contents, chapter navigation and text flow at more than one font size.
  4. If the project needs a print PDF, additional projects or the full design collection, compare Pro with the current Store offer. Check the printer or distributor’s requirements before purchasing for that output.

Review the actual result

Review the actual exported book rather than relying only on the editing preview. Check cover and font permissions separately from the formatting tool.

Limits to know

Free supports one book and EPUB export. Pro features and purchases follow the current Microsoft Store offer. Formatting does not guarantee acceptance by a publishing platform or print service.

Check the product website or official Store for current pricing and purchase options.
